  26. The zoom factors in Lightwave are electonic representations of optical 
  27. zooms.  Focal length plays a role in depth of field and distance 
  28. perspective.  If you don't know about depth of field, you can post me 
  29. another time and I would be happy to explain it to you.  Perspective 
  30. effects can be as drastic as the fish eye effect produced with a super 
  31. wide angle setting (low focal length).  Also, the longer the focal length 
  32. (larger factors) the closer objects seem when they share a 
  33. background/foreground relationship.
